moving and starbuck

I took Starbuck to the vet yesterday. She's been sick ever since we moved, which also happened when I first got her. I think it's just stress. She felt much better this morning. It made me happy.

We got everything moved and had to deal with crazy apartment managers and other things which would take to long to go into. But my mom's new apartment is beautiful and once I'm not having to stay there anymore it will be even nicer.

Lacey's mom is helping me get a teaching job. I need to call a place today. The more I think about it the more excited I get.

things

We lost Mollie yesterday. She was old and in pain and it was for the best. She was my first real dog. We'd had her since I was in the second or third grade. It makes me sad. Inviting small tragedies into your home is never easy.

We're also trying to move into the real apartment, which isn't as hard as it seems it should be. I'm waiting for the bad to show up.

In the midst of summer movies the only one I've seen is X3. It was enjoyable. I still want to see the J.J. Abrahms directed M:I 3. But, for my own sake, here is what is coming out that I will be seeing for the forseeable future.

06/28/2006 - Superman Returns. Because it's going to make me cry.

07/07/2006 - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. Because apparently I'm a 14 year old girl.

07/07/2006 - A Scanner Darkly. Because Greg told me to.

07/21/2006 - Clerks II. It makes me happy.

07/21/2006 - Lady in the Water. Because it's the guy.

07/28/2006 - Miami Vice. Because it's Michael fucking Mann.

08/25/2006 - Idlewild. Because I like Outkast. And it's a musical.

09/08/2006 - Hollywoodland. Because it should be disturbing and cool.

10/13/2006 - The Fountain. Because it's Darren Aronofsky.

10/13/2006 - Sunshine. Because it's Danny Boyle.

11/17/2006 - Casino Royal. James Bond.

12/01/2006 - Skinwalkers. It's about werewolves.

And that's it. It seems this might be more of a quality over quantity year for films. There's the Tarantino/Rodriguez horror film, as well, but I think it's coming out in 2007.

It's also a fantastic week for comics. I will happily be ordering many of these books this weekend.

All Star Superman #4, which is, in a work, genius; Annihilation: Nova #3 (of 4), which is very cosmic; Army of Darkness #8, which is full of booksticks; Astonishing X-Men #15, which is full of Joss Whedon; Birds of Prey #95, which has constantly been one of the best books out there for the past three years or so; Bite Club: Vampire Crime Unit #3 (of 5), which is full of vampires; Captain America #19, which is one of my favorites; City of Heroes #14, which I don't play anymore, but I still enjoy the mythology; Claw the Unconquered #1, which has to be metal; Conan #29, which I'm behind on; Conan: Book of Thoth #4 (of 4), which I'm also behind on; Criminal Macabre: Feat of Clay, which is always welcome; Eternals #1 (of 6), which is written by one of my heroes; Ex Machina #21, which is one of my favorites; Fallen Angel #6, which is just a beautiful book; 52 #7 (of 52), which is still full of weekly goodness; The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive #1, which I'm very much looking forward to; Gargoyles #1, which is ten years in the making; Giant-Size Hulk #1, which reprints some wonderful story and has a Planet Hulk tie-in story; Hellblazer #221, which is neat; Iron Man #9, which is always good; JSA Classified #13, which I'm behind on; Justice #6 (of 12), which is beautiful; Man-Bat #3 (of 5), which I haven't started yet; Manhunter #23, which I'm very behind on; New Avengers #20, which is always wonderful; New Excalibur #8, which I'm behind on; Red Sonja #11, which is metal; Rising Stars: Untouchable #5 (of 5), which I haven't started yet; Robin #151, which has been very good lately; Shadowpact #2, which is just plain good; Star Wars: Legacy #1, which I'm apprehensivley looking forward to; Superman/Batman #27, which starts a new era; Superman Returns: Lex Luthor, which is the next to last movie tie-ins; Testament #7, which I'm behind on; The Ultimates 2 #11 (of 13), which is another simply genius book; Uncanny X-Men #474, which I'm planning on getting caught up on before Ed Brubaker starts; and Uncanny X-Men Annual #1, which I'm confused about.

And some covers.

I feel the need to do something more productive.

ze pain

I had these epidural shots done on my back on Wednesday. I've had them done before. It's some kind of steriod that relieves the pain I have back there. I have back pain for some ungodly reason, and it seems no one can really narrow it down. The first sets of these that I had helped a lot. But yesterday I could barely move. It was the most agonizing pain I've ever felt. Today is better. I got some (really good) medication. Hopefully the shots themselves will kick in. I just hope that they didn't make my back worse. I really, really do not want to have any kind of surgery done. Both of my parents went through that. I took my dad about six years before he returned to any kind of normality. And it just made my mom's worse. Time will tell.

There are two concerts in Dallas in July. Rancid is playing on the 14th. Jurassic 5 is playing on the 31st. I'm going to go to both. This is the first time in a while that I've had the time and the money to do something like this. I'm excited. Blake and Greg will be joining me. It should be excellent.

I've been watching a lot of Star Trek lately. As in, a whole lot. It's on TV all the time. And there are these themed DVD sets out. It makes me feel like I'm seven again. I used to watch these shows all the time.

This is the first time I've had the time to post nonsense in a while. It feels good.

comics and tattoos

I got another tattoo yesterday. If I could get my stupid camera phone to work properly I'd post pictures. It's dorky and only a few understand it.

I've been busy. I also ordered comics yesterday. Here is what came out today.

American Virgin #4, which I haven't actually started yet; Angel Spotlight: Wesley, which should be good as always; Annihilation: Super-Skrull #3 (of 4), which is shaping up to be really good; Battle Pope #8, which is full of Jesus; Checkmate #3, which is spy-o-rific; Civil War #2 (of 7), which is brautiful; Crisis Aftermath: The Battle for Bludhaven #5 (of 6), which I also haven't started yet; DMZ #8, which is really good; Ex Machina Special #2 (of 2), which is also really good; Exiles #82, which I'm behind on; Fables #50, which is supposed to be big; 52 #6 (of 52), which is full of weekly goodness; Firestorm: The Nuclear Man #26, which I'm very behind on; Green Arrow #63, which is always good; Green Lantern Corps #1, which I'm very much looking forward to; JLA Classified #22, which I'm also behind on; Legends of the Dark Knight #207, of which the same can be said; Marvel Knights Four #30, which is the last issue and makes me sad; Ms. Marvel #4, which is a beautiful book; Nightwing #121, which I'm still undecided on; Red Sonja/Claw the Unconquered: The Devil’s Hand #4 (of 4), which I haven't started yet; Sensational Spider-Man #27, which I'm behind on; Squadron Supreme #4, which is a beautiful book; Superman #653, which is really good; Superman Returns: Ma Kent, which ties into what might be the best movie ever; Thunderbolts #103, which I'm behind on; Ultimate X-Men #71, which is always good; and Wolverine: Origins #3, which is decent enough.

I should also be getting the series sets of The Lone Gunmen and Harsh Realm, as well as the first season of Hill Street Blues in the mail either today or tomorrow.

It's a very TV week.

For Paolo: everything is fine. Your house hasn't burned down and your fish still lives.

I got my job back at the library, so now I'm working two jobs so that I might possibly be able to get my car fixed and get my certification and take more tests to get other certifications. I'm excited.

They moved me up to the front at my other job, which also makes me excited. For the first time in a while I'm not dreading getting up in the morning to go to work.
