I haven't done this in a couple of months, and it's great to kill time with.
These are the comics I'm going to be getting in February (yes, February).
Dark HorseHellboy: Mokoma, or a Tale Told by a Mummy in the New York Explorers' Club on August 16, 1993 #1 (of 2) written by Mike Mignola, art by Mignola and Richard Corben. There's a title for you. I have an unbridled love for this universe and character, so I'm glad Mignola is slowly starting to get back to him. Don't get me wrong, I love the mini-series featuring the B.P.R.D. crew they've been doing for the past year or so, but they're just not the same. So I'm glad we're getting back to this. Slowly, but it's happening.
Conan #25 written by Kurt Busiek, art by Cary Nord. This is one of my favorite books every month. There's just something about it, and Busiek does this amazing job of adapting these stories and filling in the gaps of Robert Howard's original creation. It makes me happy.
DCBatman: Year One Hundred #1 (of 4) written and art by Paul Pope. This should kick all kinds of ass. It's a Batman story set in 2039 and features the decendents of Jim Gordon and all the other characters we know. And Pope is an amazing storyteller. I'm excited for this.
Batman #650 written by Judd Winick, art by Doug Mahnke. A kind of climax for the Jason Todd/Red Hood story, and it should be really good. Winick constantly proves himself over and over again as one of the best storytellers out there right now.
Detective Comics #816 written by Shane McCarthy, art by Cliff Chiang. At a time when all these things are going on in this universe, I don't know why their doing any fill-in issues right now. But Chiang is a wonderful artist, show this should be pretty.
Legends of the Dark Knight #200 written by Eddie Campbell and Daren White, art by Bart Sears. These stories are usually pretty damn good. But I can't stand Sears. But this is a big anniversary issue, so it might be good. I'll pick it up regardless.
Batman: Journey Into Knight #7 (of 12) written by Andrew Helfer, art by Tan Eng Huat. This has been a surprisingly good mini-series. Yeah, it's a year one type of story, but it's very welcome with the darkness that fills the rest of DC's books right now.
Gotham Knights #74 written by A.J. Lieberman, art by Diego Olmos. The last issue of a book that has been fantastic for the last couple of years. It's also been under-rated though, and no one has really been reading it. I'll be sad to see this go, and I hope they stick Lieberman on another book soon.
Batman and the Monster Men #4 (of 6) written and art by Matt Wagner. The first two issues of this have been wonderful. Wagner's stuff is always really good, and this book is no exception.
Batgirl #73 written by Andersen Gabrych, art by Pop Mhan. I really hope nothing happens to this book or character in the mixup that is
Infinite Crisis. Cassandra Cain is probably my favorite person created within the last decade or so. Just wonderful. I named my cat after her.
Catwoman #52 written by Will Pfeifer, art by Pete Woods. I'm a little behind on this book because I'm sad Ed Brubaker is no longer the writer. But Pheifer is fine, and I've enjoyed his issues once I sat down to read them. I'll get to them soon.
Gotham Central #40 written by Greg Rucka, art by Kano. Another final issue, and this one makes me more upset. This is another of my very favorite books out there right now, and I'm sad it's going away.
Nightwing #117 written by Devin Grayson, art by Phil Hester. I think this is Hester's last issue, which is upsetting, because he's so great on whatever he does. This is a great book regardless, although Grayson is leaving soon as well. We'll see what happens after that.
Robin #147 written by Bill Willingham, art by Scott McDaniel. Another great book, most of the time. I'm kind of hoping this doesn't take a drastic change after
Identity Crisis, as well.
Superman #226/Action Comics #836/Adventures of Superman #649 written by Joe Kelly, art by Tim Sale, Ed Benes, and Karl Kerschl. A three-part story called
This is Your Life, which features one of my favorite writers back on the character. It's supposed to deal with the Earth-2 Superman, so I'm not so sure about that.
Supergirl #6 written by Jeph Loeb, art by Ian Churchill. This book is wonderful. And Greg Rucka is going to be taking it over soon, which will only make it a million times better.
Infinite Crisis #5 (of 7) written by Geoff Johns, art by Phil Jimenez. Despite all the crossovers and everything, I've been enjoying this book quite a bit. It's well written, and this art is of course amazing. I'm more excited to see the outcome, though, as that is what is being hyped now.
The Rann/Thanagar War: Infinite Crisis Special written by Dave Gibbon, art by Ivan Reis. This was one of my favorites of the mini-series that led up to
Infinite Crisis, so I'm excited to see a bookend. They're doing one for each of them, so that's cool as well.
Infinite Crisis Secret Files 2006 written by Marv Wolfman, art by Dan Jurgens and others. I'm a huge sucker for
Secret Files one-shots. This one shouldn't be any different than the other ones.
Birds of Prey #91 written by Jim Alexander, art by Brad Walker. Another fill-in issue, which surprises me. I've never heard of the writer of this issue, but I'll be checking it out anyways.
Firestorm #22 written by Stuart Moore, art by Eddy Barrows. This is another book that's I'm very behind on. I need to sit down and read all of them in one sitting. I love the character and the tone, so I'll still be getting it.
Green Lantern #9 written by Geoff Johns, art by Ethan Van Scriver. For the most part, I've been enjoying this book, especially when Van Scriver is doing the art. And not drawing sharks. I don't like sharks.
Green Arrow #59 written by Judd Winick, art by Paul Lee. This is still one of my favorite books, more so now that they've got someone else besides Tom Fowler on the art.
Hard Time Season Two #3 written by Steve Gerber and Mary Skrenes, art by Brian Hurtt. I'm really looking forward to checking this new series out. The original volume was one of the best, most under-rated books being published when it was around. I'm glad it's coming back.
Hawkman #49 written by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, art by Chris Batista. Yet another book I really need to get caught up on, and now it's finally tying into
Rann/Thanagar, so that's good.
JLA #125 written by Bob Harris, art by Tom Derenick. This book has been wonderful in the fallout of
Infinite Crisis. I hope it keeps up this quality.
JLA Classified #17 written by Gail Simone, art by Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez. The second part of Simone's highly anticipated JLA story, which for a long time couldn't find a book to be published in. I'm glad it's finally seeing print.
JSA #82 written by Paul Levitz, art by George Perez. This is going to be just fucking amazing. Levitz and Perez doing an old school JSA story. I'm so there.
JSA Classified #8 and #9 written by Peter Tomasi, art by Don Kramer. I like Tomasi, and Kramer is an amazing artist. I've been enjoying this title, as well, so I'll still be getting it.
Justice #4 (of 12) written by Jim Krueger and Alex Ross, art by Doug Braithwaite and Ross. This is just a beautiful book all around. The story is a little off, with everything that's going on with DC right now, but the art is worth the price tag alone.
Jonah Hex #4 written by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, art by Luke Ross. I still need to find the first issue of this, but I love me some westerns. And the creative team behind this book is top notch.
Legion of Super-Heroes #15 written by Stuart Moore and Mark Waid, art by Patrick Olliffe. Another book I'm behind on, but I always greatly enjoy when I sit down to read it, so I'm sure I'll keep picking it up.
Manhunter #19 written by Marc Andreyko, art by Javier Pina. And another thing I'm behind on. I'll playing catch up during the break.
Outsiders #33 written by Jen Van Meter, art by Dietrich Smith. I don't know why Judd Winick is taking so many breaks from his books, but Van Meter is good for a fill-in type of thing, although this apparently is an
Infinite Crisis tie-in.
Solo #9 written by Scott Hampton and John Hitchcock, art by Hampton. For the most part, I enjoy the hell out of these. This one should be no different.
Seven Soldiers: Bulletter #3 (of 4)/Seven Soldiers: Frankenstein #3 (of 4) written by Grant Morrison, art by Yanick Paquette and Doug Mahnke. This is just a fabulous thing Morrison is doing with these stories. I'm still in for the whole ride.
Teen Titans Annual #1/Teen Titans #33 written by Geoff Johns and Marv Wolfman, art by Paco Medina and Tony S. Daniel. Another of my favorite books. With Wolfman as co-writer here, it can only get a hundred times better.
Wonder Woman #226 written by Greg Rucka, art by Cliff Richards. Another final issue. It makes me sad. And kind of spoils things. Terry Dodson is supposed to be the artist on the relauch later in the year. That should be great.
The American Way #1 (of 8) written by John Ridley, art by Georges Jeanty. I'm so in for this. Ridley is an amazing writer. This has something to do with the 1960s. Or something. I'm not sure. It's John Ridley, though.
Ex Machina #19 written by Brian K. Vaughan, art by Tony Harris. Another of my very favorite books. Vaughan is probably my favorite writer in this medium right now.
Planetary #25 written by Warren Ellis, art by John Cassaday. While this book only comes out every once and while anymore, it's still great when it does come out. It's another of my favorites.
The Exterminators #2 written by Simon Oliver, art by Tony Moore. This has something do with bugs. Bugs scare me. But I really like Tony Moore.
DMZ #4 written by Brian Wood, art by Wood and Richardo Burchielli. The first issue of this book was another amazing debut. I'm looking forward to where this book is going.
Fables #46 written by Bill Willingham, art by Jim Fern. Another of my favorite books. This in consistantly an amazing book in every way. I'll be sad when it's over.
Hellblazer #217 written by Denise Mina, art by Leonardo Manco. I'm going to start picking this up with #216, because it's the start of a new writer. And I've always liked Manco.
Loveless #5 written by Brian Azzarello, art by Marcelo Frusin. I'm loving the hell out of this book. I've always liked westerns, and this is just bad ass.
Testament #3 written by Douglas Rushkoff, art by Liam Sharp. While this book isn't out yet, the previews of it look absoulutley amazing. I'm definatley going to be checking this out.
Y: The Last Man #42 written by Brian K. Vaughan, art by Goran Sudzuka. This always makes me happy when it comes out. I'll be sad when it eventually ends.
ImageBattle Pope #9 written by Robert Kirkman, art by Tony Moore. A superhero pope. It's just cool. And blasphemous. And therefore worth checking out.
Fell #6 written by Warren Ellis, art by Ben Templesmith. This has slowly become one of my favorite books out there right now. There's a reason Ellis is so great, and it's embodied in this book.
G0dland #8 written by Joe Casey, art by Tom Scioli. Another great book coming out from Image. This draws up the memories of old Stan Lee and Jack Kirby stories. It make me happy.
Invincible #31 written by Robert Kirkman, art by Ryan Ottley. Another book that constantly surprises me. This is always a wonderful read every month. When it's not late.
PvP #24 written and art by Scott Kurtz. This is always good. Kurtz is one of my heroes.
The Walking Dead #28 written by Robert Kirkman, art by Charlie Adlard. I missed an issue of this and now I'm behind. It's not a bad thing because this book reads so much better in trades. But I'll get caught up on it soon.
Hunter/Killer #9 written by Mark Waid, art by Eric Basaldua. A so and so book from Top Cow. It might get better without Silvestri on there all the time. Waid is one of my favorites.
Down #4 (of 4) written by Warren Ellis, art by Cully Hammer. Another fantastic Ellis book. This is possibly one of my favorite things that he's done, mini-series wise.
City of Heroes #10 written by David Wohl, art by David Nakayama. Since I started playing this game again, I've remembered how awesome the backstory of this universe is. It's explored in the comics and some novels coming out, which I think it really cool.
MarvelUltimate Extinction #2 (of 5) written by Warren Ellis, art by Brandon Peterson. Another great Ellis book. I love the Ultimate universe more and more every month.
Ultimate Fantastic Four #27 written by Mark Millar, art by Greg Land. Millar's work on this book has been a lot of fun. I'll be sad when he leaves.
Ultimate Spider-Man #90 written by Brian Michael Bendis, art by Mark Bagley. One of my all time favorite books. This is the end of the
Silver Sable arc, which has been really good so far.
Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk #2 (of 6) written by Damon Lindelof, art by Leinil Francis Yu. I don't think I've looked forward to book this much in a while. This should be all kinds of cool.
Ultimate X-Men #67 written by Robert Kirkman, art by Tom Raney. Kirkman on an Ultimate book makes me very happy. I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can do with these characters.
Marvel Knights Spider-Man #23 written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, art by Angel Medina. This writer is such an underrated one. I predict that this book will be one of the more incredible things to come out of Marvel in 2006, and that no one will really read it.
Amazing Spider-Man #529 written by J. Michael Straczynski, art by Ron Garney. A new artist on this book makes me smile. And as long as Straczynski is writing it, I'll certainly be there to read it.
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #5 written by Peter David, art by Mike Wieringo. While I've been enjoying
The Other, I'm very curious to see what David can do with this book and this character. I think it's going to be great as soon as he gets a chance to do it.
Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane #3 written by Sean McKeever, art by Takeshi Miyazawa. I'm very curious to see this book, as well. It's cute and girly and I shouldn't like it. And yet.
Ares #2 (of 5) written by Michael Oeming, art by Travel Foreman. I'm looking forward to this book, as well. Oeming has proven himself to be one hell of a writer in the past few years, so I'll follow him where he goes.
Black Widow #6 (of 6) written by Richard K. Morgan, art by Sean Phillips. I love spy shit. And Morgan is one of the modern masters of spy shit. This is such an awesome book in so many ascepts, and I'm sad it's not an ongoing.
Black Panther #13 written by Reginald Hudlin, art by Scott Eaton. This book has really picked up since it's somewhat disappointing opening storyarc. But it's on track now and I'm really liking it.
Daredevil #82 written by Ed Brubaker, art by Michael Lark. While I'm sad that Bendis and Maleev are no longer on this book, I think that this creative team is the perfect replacement team. While I've always loved Brubaker, he's risen even more with his other work for Marvel recently. And Lark is always wonderful.
Ghost Rider #6 (of 6) written by Garth Ennis, art by Clayton Crain. The art on this book is just absolutley amazing. This was a decent little mini-series that I have really enjoyed.
Marvel Knights 4 #27 written by Robert Aguirre-Sacasa, art by Valentine deLandro. Another wonderful book that not a lot of people are reading. Again, this writer is one of the best out there right now.
Punisher vs. Bullseye #4 (of 5) written by Daniel Way, art by Steve Dillon. This is so far a fun little book. These two creators together have been producing some of the best mini-series for the past little bit.
Fury: Peacemaker #1 (of 6) written by Garth Ennis, art by Darick Robertson. A follow-up to a fantastic mini-series from these two creators a few years ago. I'm delighted that this is coming out, and will definatley be checking to out.
Wolverine #39 written by Daniel Way, art by Javier Saltares. I'm behind on this book a bit, but it's always been good. Apparently Marvel is about to start another book featuring this character, so we'll see what happens.
Amazing Fantasy #18 written by Simon Furman, art by James Raiz. This is consistantly a wonderful book, which is an odd thing for an anthology book in this day and age. I'm glad it's still kicking.
Books of Doom #4 (of 6) written by Ed Brubaker, art by Pablo Raimondi. Another great Bruacker book, even if it is a bit wordy. Still, an fantastic little mini-series.

Incredible Hulk #92 written by Greg Pak, art by Carlo Pagulayan. The beginning of
Planet Hulk. I don't know what that means. But it sounds cool. And Pak was quickly risen to one of my favorite writers.
Marvel Team-Up #17 written by Robert Kirkman, art by Paco Medina. Kirkman is having such fun with this book, and it really shows with the quality of it. This is a great little thing he's got going here, and I hope it keeps going.

Runaways #13 written by Brian K. Vaughan, art by Adrian Alphona. Maybe this is my favorite book. It has never, ever be bad it any way, shape, or form.

Sentinel #4 (of 5) written by Sean McKeever, art by Joe Vrines. Another beautiful book. Worth checking out for every reason you can think of.
Spider-Woman: Origin #3 (of 5) written by Brian Michael Bendis and Brian Reed, art by Jonathan Luna. The first issue of this was surprisingly good. But of course it was. I'm curious to see where this goes, as I know next to nothing about this character.
The Thing #4/She-Hulk #5 written by Dan Slott, art by Andrea di Vito and Juan Bobillo. I don't know why I put these tow books together. Slott consistantly writes some of the best books that no one is reading, and these seem to be falling into those categories.
Young Avengers #10 written by Allan Heinberg, art by Jim Cheung. Another of my absolutely favorite books. It never fails to surprise and be amazing.
Astonishing X-Men #13 written by Joss Whedon, art by John Cassaday. Yay. I'm glad this is finally back. It makes me dance a dance of joy.

House of M.
New Excalibur #4 written by Chris Claremont, art by Steven Cummings. I'm surprisingly liking this so far. Which surprises me. Because it's Claremont. Hopefully it won't go downhill. But it probably will.

Son of M #3 (of 6) written by David Hine, art by Roy Allen Martinez. This had a wonderful first issue, so I'm hoping that this goes in that same vein. And this issue has the Inhumans, which makes me happy.
Storm #1 (of 6) written by Eric Jerome Dickey, art by David Yardin. The love story between Storm and the Black Panther. It should be good. Maybe. Hopefully. We'll see.
Uncanny X-Men #469/Uncanny X-Men #470 written by Chris Claremont, art by Billy Tan. A new artist. Might be good. I'm wanting Claremont to leave these characters alone so someone else can do something with them.
X-Men Unlimited #13 written by Hugh Stebakov and Damon Hurd, art by Sean Scoffield and Clay Mann. These are always good, and I can't seem to bring myself to drop it. These always at least one good story contained within these books.

Fathom #7 written by J.T. Krul, art by Koi Turnbull. A beautiful book. About water. It's pretty.
DynamitePainkiller Jane #1 written by Jimmy Palmiotti, art by Lee Moder. I so there for this book. There's an interesting story behind it. Back in the day it was some of the first work from Palmiotti and Quesada, but was cancelled quickly and recently made into a television movie for the Sci-Fi Channel. And now it returns. Which makes me happy.
Red Sonja #9/Red Sonja vs. Thusla Doom #3 (of 4) written by Michael Avon Oeming, Peter David, and Luke Lieberman, art by Mel Rubi and Will Conrad. Masters of Horror #3 (of 12) written by Ivan Brandon, art by Dennis Calero. I'm curious to see what these are about. IDW never disappoints me with stuff like this.
30 Days of Night: Dead Space #2 (of 3) written by Steve Niles and Dan Wickline, art by Milx. This should be good. I'm hoping they are.
MirageTales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #20/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #26 written by Peter Laird, art by Jim Lawson. Ah, my childhood brought to life in front of me again. It makes me smile.
And that's the incredibly long list. I'll do March next. I'm not sure when.
